Stick out like a sore thumb.
Think about your average day. You wake up and check your email. How many unsolicited marketing emails did you receive? Next, you scan Facebook to see if anyone said something witty enough that deserves a reply. How many updates did you scan through that promoted an upcoming event or news story? You drive to work and listen to your favorite radio station. How many radio commercials did you listen to? You get the point. Within the first hour or two of your day, you can be exposed to over 100 advertisements. The most impactful advertisements are the ones that make people stop and want to read more. Plus, when you consider the introduction of Groupon and other daily deals, the average consumer is not only looking for a phenomenal discount – they are also looking for a one-of-a-kind experience.
One of the reasons companies hire agencies in the first place is because they need help getting their brand noticed. Believe it or not, delivering a simple and effective message is pretty challenging. Especially when a client has a lot of big ideas. Our job as an agency is to filter through these big ideas and deliver an engaging message that is concise and to the point. How exactly do we filter? First, we start with a call to action. It’s the most important thing. It’s what answers the question – “How do we know it worked?” You motivate your audience to respond and engage with what you’re offering them. Second, creativity and “outside the box” thinking goes a long way. A good message can easily get lost in all of the “noise” if it doesn’t stand out and make people say, “That’s cool! I need to show all of my friends.” Finally, we work at removing all of the “fluff.” All of the unnecessary information that people can either get on your website or social media sites – take it out.
